For many consumers, an automobile may be one of the most expensive purchases they ever make, Unfortunately, the automobile purchase process is rife with opportunities for less than scrupulous dealers to take advantage of a consumer. From trapping consumers at a dealership by "selling" their trade in before they have bought a new car to misrepresenting the cost (and necessity) of add-on products such as service contracts, consumers can be significantly harmed by an unscrupulous dealer's actions.
